Jackson Hole is an awesome mountain with a fantastic variety of terrain. It has lots of challenging runs and opportunities for back country skiing. It has been voted to have the most challenging terrain in the country and lives up to its reputation. There are also good areas for beginners and a well run ski-school.
The town retains its Wild West character with the addition of a range of excellent restaurants both in town and on the mountain. After skiing you have to try the Mangy Moose bar, great atmosphere, music and very interesting decor.
We stayed at the Aspens which provides low cost apartments with all the required self catering facilities and has a fabulous gourmet supermarket where you can buy a range of restaurant quality prepared food.
A free bus service takes you to and from the slopes at regular intervals throughout the day. There is also a range of more up-market accommodation on the mountain.
If you want a break from skiing Yellowstone National Park is a bus trip away and there are a range of wildlife tours, though we managed to see moose, deer and coyotes on our short bus rides up the mountain.
