Accommodation Wanaka

Wanaka has a range of accommodation options including luxury lodges, high-end apartments, motels, hotels and b&b’s. Most of the lodging is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and cafes. There are a number of shuttle services that run from downtown or from your accommodation.

Skiing & Boarding

Wanaka has two great ski resorts within a short drive from town - Cardrona and Treble Cone. Cardrona is a family favourite for its wide open runs, plenty of intermediate terrain and childcare facilities. If you like to ride park and pipes then Cardrona has you covered with some of the most extensive terrain park facilities in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also a great beginners mountain with their newly installed ‘Chondola’. Treble Cone is NZ’s largest ski area on the South Island with 550 ha of skiable terrain and is the perfect resort for advanced riders with some fun side country and backcountry options. It also has one of the best views from any ski resort in the world.

Activities

Wanaka has over 750km of trails to explore for walking, biking, and hiking. Mt Aspire National Park is also nearby with glaciers, waterfalls and rivers. Why not take a helicopter glacier tour! Seeking an adrenaline rush? Then there is skydiving, via ferrata, off road tours, canyoning and more. And if you are after something a bit more relaxing then there are world class vineyards, boutique breweries and distilleries.

Wanaka is located 60 minutes from Queenstown airport and is easily accessible from Australia, with direct flights from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Coolangatta as well as daily flights from New Zealand’s main airports.
