Accommodation Selva

Selva is the most ski-focused of the three Val Gardena villages (Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva). Many hotels and apartments are close to the Ciampinoi and Dantercepies gondolas, so getting onto the slopes is quick and easy. There’s a good range of accommodation, from simple, family-run guesthouses to stylish four- and five-star spa hotels. After a big day skiing, most places offer wellness areas with saunas and pools — perfect for winding down. Families will appreciate how close everything is, including ski school meeting points and beginner areas near the village.

Skiing & Boarding

Selva gives you direct access to the excellent Val Gardena ski area and the wider Dolomiti Superski network. Intermediates are especially well looked after, with long, cruisy red runs linking the villages and flowing around the Sella massif. The lift system is modern and efficient, making it easy to cover plenty of ground. Stronger skiers can take on the Saslong World Cup downhill run in nearby Santa Cristina or book a guide to explore steeper terrain and off-piste areas. Beginners have dedicated learning zones in the village and access to excellent ski schools with English-speaking instructors. One of the biggest highlights is skiing the full Sella Ronda circuit — a full-day loop that takes you through four different valleys, all on skis.

Activities

There’s plenty to do off the slopes as well. You can go tobogganing, try winter walking trails or explore the valley on cross-country skis. Snowshoeing is popular for those wanting a quieter way to experience the Dolomites, and there’s also ice skating and indoor climbing available locally. Many hotels have excellent spa and wellness centres, so it’s easy to relax after a big day on the mountain. In the evenings, the village has a relaxed but lively feel, with a mix of après bars and traditional restaurants serving a blend of Austrian and Italian cuisine.
