Palisades (formerly known as Squaw Valley), Lake Tahoe, offers some of America’s most diverse skiing and boarding terrain, ranging from the gentle beginner’s slopes high up the mountain to KT-22, which is world famous for extreme skiing. While skiing is the focus here, Palisades’ quaint European style village also offers an exceptional après experience with atmospheric bars and restaurants, year round yoga overlooking the mountain, ice-skating, indoor climbing, shopping and more.

Accommodation Palisades Tahoe

Palisades offers loads of accommodation to suit your budget. Choose to stay in a ski-in-ski-out hotel or a condo in the heart of the Olympic Village right opposite the Aerial Tram. Alternatively, east of the main village you can enjoy deluxe resort style accommodation and the convenience of a ski-in ski-out location at Squaw Creek.
If you prefer to stay outside Palisades, you’ll also be spoilt for choice, with several towns within a short drive. Staying in South Lake Tahoe is a great choice if you’re planning to explore a variety of resorts during your stay. From here, both Heavenly Resort and Northstar Resort are within easy reach if you have your own vehicle.

Skiing & Boarding

Palisades spans 14 popular mountain zones offering skiing and boarding that caters to all abilities. Here you’ll enjoy spectacular views, whether you’re slipping through the trees, burning your quads on a long run, winding your way down a cruiser or leaping off a cliff.
Here, beginners ski wide open runs at the top of the mountain, accessed via the Aerial Tram, while experts lift off in open bowls, classic moguls, cliff drops, chutes and gullies below. At the extreme edge of all experiences is KT-22; with over 2,000 vertical feet of steeps, chutes, cliffs, and gullies to push you to the limits.
Access to the Alpine Meadows gives the opportunity to explore intermediate groomed trails, trees, terrain parks, banks and chutes. And for more advanced skiers and boarders, there are plenty of sun-soaked challenges at Pacific Crest Bowls.

Activities

At Palisades there’s plenty to do on and off the mountain. Kids – and maybe you too – will love the opportunity to experience mountain-top ice-skating at High Camp, as well as the SnoVentures Center at the base area where there are mini-snowmobiles and snow tubing.
You’ll also find yoga, day spas and the 1960 Winter Olympic Museum, or if you’re feeling more adventurous, dog sledding, cross-country skiing and indoor climbing.
The Squaw Kids Children's Centre, in the main village centre, has excellent full and half day programs, while the ski school offers a variety of programs for kids and adults who will be taught by internationally renowned instructors.

Getting There & Around

To get to Palisades fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport which has 72 daily departures non-stop from 15 cities. From here, it’s around an hour to the resort by shuttle.
Alternatively, to drive from San Francisco will take over 3 hours’ or longer during weekends or in bad weather.
Palisades is pedestrian friendly and it’s easy to get around on foot, however if you’re planning to explore the Lake Tahoe area, and other ski resorts and towns, consider hiring a car. While shuttle services are available, connections may prove inconvenient.
