Accommodation

Within the ski-through village of Sun Peaks you’ll find eight hotels and lodges ranging from moderate to luxury. Choose from standard hotel rooms, condo style units with kitchens to high ender apartments all just a short ski from the front door to the chairlift and ski school. Surrounding the village, you will find larger townhouses and condos that offer ski-in, ski-out access, private hot tubs and all the amenities of a home. December 2018 Sun Peaks will be opening a new chairlift to better service this area and allowing even better access to the slopes from these units. The in-resort shuttle operates daily during the lift hours for non-skiers to get into the village, or they can enjoy a short 10-15-minute walk along they valley trail.

Skiing & Boarding

The three mountains of Sun Peaks surround the alpine village offering a 360-degree effect. Alpine trails flow down to the ski-through village and each chair offers a beginner, intermediate and advanced run off of every chairlift. Families of all abilities can ski together, choosing the run that best suits their abilities and easily meeting up in the village. The convenient design and layout of Sun Peaks also allows for no lift ques or crowds and the slopes all to yourself. Mums, dads and kids alike will love the dedicated beginners’ areas designed to help you progress from the learning slopes to the top of the mountain in no time. Programs include tots, kids and teen lessons, camps, clinics and off-piste programs for all ages. On weekends and holidays the platter lift is open late so you can keep practicing after the main lifts have closed. Consistent snow fall and light dry powder blanket the slopes and over 2500 hours of sunshine each year. The beginner runs are wide open and groomed with the longest one being 8km’s long. Over half the terrain is intermediate making Sun Peaks a blue run paradise and those looking for steeper terrain and powder stashes can explore the 17 gladded areas or head in Gil’s, an inbounds area with a backcountry feel.

Activities

Experience winter off the slopes with one of Sun Peaks adventures. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline or looking for the quiet peacefulness of the outdoors, their line-up of activities delivers on all levels. Rush through the Sun Peaks backcountry by dog sled or experience the magic of winters night on snowshoes. Curl up with a blanket under the stars on a horse drawn sleigh ride or strap or a pair of ice skates at the skating rink. Play in the powder on a snowmobile tour or set out on the cross-country trails surrounding the resort. Other activities include Guided Ice Fishing, Tube Park, Cat Trax Groomer Rides, First Tracks, Terrain Park and Alpine Fondue and Evening Descent.

Getting There & Around

To get there, take a quick 45-minute flight from Vancouver which is serviced by Air Canada. Airport shuttles meet every flight and take you directly to the resort in under an hour. Inter resort shuttles are available from Whistler, Big White and Silver Star if you’re looking at exploring another destination while in Canada. Sun Peaks has a walkable, pedestrian only village with a groomed, ski through centre. For those staying outside the village core in the town homes and condos you can catch the free in-resort shuttle or ski out onto one of two chairlifts located in the East village.
