Rusutsu

Rusutsu is Japan’s ultimate snow destination for families with fantastic gentle terrain for learners, an indoor slope and masses of great fun Disneyland style activities off the mountain as well. While there are just two hotels servicing this unique resort, there are also a few family owned pensions that offer a more traditional experience. The resort is signposted in English for your convenience. Beware of the lift towers that blast out Japanese pop music!

Accommodation Rusutsu

Accommodation in Rusutsu is limited and there are no self-contained apartments. Choose from a few family owned pensions scattered around the resort base and two major hotels – the Rusutsu Hotel and Convention Centre, and the Westin Rusutsu Resort. The Hotel and the Resort are connected by a monorail for your convenience. It’s easy to get around the village by skiing or using the gondola and a shuttle is available to transport you to nearby Niseko.

Skiing & Boarding

With Japan’s best powder, three peaks and 524 hectares of slopes, Rusutsu has sensational skiing and boarding for all abilities. Here you’ll enjoy spectacular tree runs, perfectly groomed slopes and some exciting off-piste challenges if you can find them. With a modern network of lifts, skiers and boarders at Rusutsu are quickly dispersed, making it unlikely that you’ll ever need to queue or navigate your way through a crowded slope. While East Mountain and Mt Isola are best for intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders, the Resort Base on West Mountain, with its gentle terrain, is ideal for beginners. There’s also an awesome terrain park and halfpipe on which you can test – and refine – your talents.

Activities

Here you’ll find loads of activities for your kids to enjoy, both indoors and outside, ranging from fantastic waterslides and a wave pool to arcade games and even a singing tree! Take a soak in one of Rusutsu’s many spas or an onsen, then enjoy a traditional Japanese meal in the village. If you just can’t get enough of the snow, try snow tubing, snow rafting, cross-country skiing, a snowmobile tour or head to the terrain park where you’ll find loads of challenges including a half-pipe. A visit to the nearby resort of Niseko, via inter-resort shuttle, is also well worthwhile.

Getting There & Around

There are reliable bus services that will get you to Rusutsu from Niseko Ski Resort (30-40 minutes), and Sapporo or New Chitose Airport (both 90 minutes).
