Snowmass December

Snowmass is a fantastic family resort, the terrain caters for all standards and the ski school is superb. The bus trip to Aspen & Highlands is worth it as the terrain on these mountains is awesome. However for families dropping kids at ski school to then bus it to other mountains will considerably limit the skiing time on those days.
Snowmass village has a reasonable range of restaurants, and the food quality is good. However the night life, for when you get the kids baby sat, is very limited. The Apres Ski is almost non existent. One little thing, the grocery shopping area, important for families, is a 10 minute bus ride from the village. This can prove difficult, especially when you are trying to get kids sorted after a long day on the snow. The Crestwood was comfortable accommodation, but we were on the 3rd floor with 2 kids under 7, ski''s, baggage etc and no elevator, this was tiresome at times. Also Crestwood is on the other side of the main runs, so, whilst it is ski in ski out, it is still a bus ride to the village. Overall... if you prefer the night life and/or more advanced skiing terrain stay in Aspen, but if you are staying in most nights with the family Smowmass will deliver superbly on expectations. My recommendation though, stay on the village side of the mountain, it will make Snowmass''s village and restaurants much more accessible.
