Skiing & Boarding

The massive Big Sky skiing area encompasses the neighbouring resorts Moonlight Basin and some terrain on Spirit Mountain (from Spanish Peaks). With over 5,800 skiable acres serviced by 23 chairlifts, 10 surface lifts and 4,350 vertical feet of skiing, Big Sky offers some of the best expert skiing in North America. On average, 10 metres of powder snow falls each season, with February being the most reliable time for snow quality and March bringing large powder dumps complemented by blue sky days. At Lone Peak there’s barely a day when the snow conditions aren’t excellent for advanced skiers. Ski straight from the top or take a short hike to access nail-biting black runs. Beginners and intermediates will love the amazing variety at Big Sky, from fast steep groomers and long and wide thigh burners, to gladed runs, terrain parks, gentle beginner slopes and moguls. Getting from one side of this massive resort to the other takes a while, so plan your days carefully, especially if you’re planning to meet up with friends or collect your kids from ski school.
With the IKON pass Big Sky gives lets you explore more resorts across North America and Canada than ever before.

Activities

There’s masses for all the family to do at Big Sky, whether you’re up the mountain, in the village or beyond.
Looking for a thrill? Head for the zip-lines, bungee trampolines, the climbing wall and the giant swing. If adventure is more your thing, try ice climbing.
For some amazing scenery, venture into Yellowstone National Park, or enjoy a guided scenic excursion on a snowmobile or snow coach. As you’d expect, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing and tubing are also available.

The closest airport, serviced with daily flights form most major cities, is Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. It’s about an hour’s drive from the resort and to get there from the airport, you can catch a shuttle. That said, and although the village is pedestrian friendly, a rental car is your best option for getting around the resort.

A shuttle service circulates the Meadow, Mountain and Canyon areas approximately every 30 minutes.
