NO MATER WHAT MOTHER NATURE THROWS AT YOU,FURANO IS STILL A SPECIAL PLACE .WE HAD IT ALL FROM GREAT GROOMED RUNS ,BOOT DEEP POWDER ON THE GROOMED,TO THE WARMEST FEBUARY DAY IN 50 YEARS,AND BACK TO WAIST DEEP POWDER SO LIGHT,IF YOU WANT THE NIGHT LIFE ,STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT TO TEST YOUSELF,FURANO IS AN OPTION ,BUT ITS NO BIG PARTY TOWN ,JUST A GREAT SKI TOWN

Furano yeah!

The only downside to this resort is the strict off piste policy, otherwise a wonderful Japanese culture experience. True ski ski out resort. Great interlinking lifts with quick mountain access.

Mountain facilities/ cafes serve quick good quality food. Good night skiing. Excellent staff. Easy transport options to Furano town and other nearby ski resorts.

Powderhounds have to be Invisible at Furano

Furano is a great alternative to the busy Niseko if you want to avoid the “Bali of Japan”. The nightlife is not as vibrant as Niseko, but Furano is less westernised, so you’ll get plenty of Japanese culture and fabulous Japanese food. There are more blue sky days at Furano than Niseko, with the associated downside being fewer powder days. However with 9 metres of snow per season, the amount of snowfall is still impressive.

Furano is a large resort with lots of vertical so it’s great for racing down the groomers. It is suited to beginners through to advanced riders who are happy to remain on-piste. Very unfortunately, tree skiing and off-piste skiing is prohibited, so powderhounds may get incredibly frustrated. Nevertheless, if you’re prepared to limbo under ropes, appear invisible and accept the associated risks, there is reasonable inbounds tree skiing and fantastic backcountry skiing. Alternatively Furano makes a great base to do day trips to powderhound destinations such as Asahidake and Kamui Links where you can ski off-piste to your heart’s content.

The town of Furano, 5 minutes by taxi from the resort remains largely untouched by outside influences. Combine Furanos back drop with everything the resort has to offer and you have the ingredients for a great skiing holiday.

Furano offers great culture and entertainment activities, great sightseeing, delicious restaurants, fun bars and the warmest people you are ever likely to meet. Furano is a fantastic small town with a great world class ski area; it is not a ski resort with a small town.
