AccommodationWhen it comes to finding a place to stay you’ll find endless options at Vail – and most of them luxurious. If you’re skiing with children, Golden Peak and Lionshead are ideal with easy access to ski school. At Golden Peak your kids will enjoy the wonderful gentle beginners’ area, while at Lionshead you’ll have a great choice of restaurants and shops.
Cascade Village is a smaller quieter village with fewer facilities, however if five star luxury and a vibrant après scene is your intention, Vail Village is the ultimate destination.
Wherever you stay, you’ll be close to the action. Most hotels offer shuttles or the convenience of a town bus service and Lionshead is within a quick walk of the village.
If you want a great view, be cautious about booking – you’ll usually have to pay more, as many cheaper rooms away from the slopes.
Skiing & BoardingWith over 5,289 acres of terrain to explore, split into three main areas – the Front Side, Back Bowls, and Blue Sky Basin – Vail offers challenges for every ability.
If you’re an intermediate skier or snowboarder, you’ll love this resort’s groomed runs, tight tree runs and the gentle off-piste areas that are a great step in your progression towards more advanced skiing.
The Eagle Bahn Gondola and Gondola One are ideal for beginners with gentle green cat tracks that meander down to the village base.
Looking for powder? The Back Bowls is definitely the place to be, especially after a big snowfall. Not challenging enough yet? Try your skills on the non-groomed runs, tree hikes and massive moguls that abound at Blue Sky Basin.
ActivitiesVail is renowned for its vibrant après atmosphere. This European style Resort offers exceptional experiences on and off the snow, whether you’re feeling active or indulgent.
Your kids will love the snowmobile, a game of bowls or the chance to chill in front of a movie… explore the area with a sleigh ride or have some fun tubing or ice skating… the options are endless.
It’s also worth the time to soak up the area’s fascinating history when you visit the ski museum, or indulge in a day spa. And then there are endless options for dining whether with the family, as a couple or in a group – both on the mountain and in the village.
Getting There & AroundYou can fly direct from some cities into Eagle County Regional Airport, which is just 40 minutes from the resort, or alternatively, fly into Denver International Airport. From here, it takes about two hours, or more during weekends and in bad weather, by shuttle or private transfer.
Once you’re in Vali you won’t need a car. This European style pedestrian friendly village is easy to get around and if you need to go further, there’s always a hotel shuttle or the town’s free bus service. Be warned that parking can be expensive if you choose to drive.
