Aspen before You Die

Skied the world, and would die happy if I never ski anywhere else again. It has it all great terrain and extensive.

Fabulous nightlife with excellent restaurants. Shopping is varied, something for even the most ardent shopper.

Accomodation is available for all pockets. The service is exceptional.

It was mentioned over and over again, its fabulous in the summer. I wouldnt know about that being a skier.

Review of Aspen

We really enjoyed our stay in Aspen, the terrain was great and also there is plenty to do in Aspen itself some great nightlife with many bars and restaurants.

We will now find it hard to go back skiing in Australia, as we were spoilt for choice in Aspen with beautiful weather, great skiing conditions and wonderful instructors.

We had a great holiday!

Aspen - despite the abundance of botox, furs and gaudy jewellery, what a great place. We got the timing right as the conditions were ''best ever'' - planning a sequel now!

Aspen 13 - 27 February 2010

By local standards Aspen snow cover was poor in February 2010.  However by Australian standards it was still excellent.  Steady snowfalls occurred most days which made for excellent conditions each morning in the fresh snow on top of the groomed.  During the time the party of 6 was there Aspen experienced record low temperatures overnight. The weather meant Aspen airport was closed regularly and my air travel into Eagle Vail was delayed by 30 minutes holding between the continuing snow showers.  However that is better than a bus ride from Denver arriving at 3.00 am as happened to two of the group.  The steady snowfalls meant there were almost none of the sunny blue Colorado days that you see in the brochures.  Patronage on the slopes was low, lift lines were virtually non existent and a PR Executive commented that the Resort was being held together this year by the skiers from Australia and Brazil.  As always we had a great time and Aspen remains value for money for Australians.  North of Nell is excellent value, well located and entirely suited for our self catering.  The City Market and The Grog Shop are convenient and stock a wide range of the essentials for Australian on a ski holiday in the US.

A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN

Those Aspen mountains have the happy nack of swallowing up any crowd and leaving you skiing as if it was your own private resort. Great attention to detail on piste and some wonderful opportunities off piste, expecially at Highlands.  

And when the powder came, it was sweet - its hard to beat champagne sparkles in the Colorado sunshine. And for Aussie skiers who invariably learned to ski in tough conditions, this can be bliss...and quite addictive !  

And its not just about the skiing at Aspen. The X Games were again held there this year, with some outstanding board performances in an amazing park set-up. Big crowds, sure, but a great spectacle.  

Joe and the team at North of Nell again were the perfect hosts - responsive, courteous and always helpful.  

Love it ? - you bet. And left my skis and boots there for next year !

North of Nell, Aspen

Wonderful skiing for all levels! North of Nell is in a great location - at the bottom of the Gondala plus an easy walk to the bus to get to the other nearby mountains.

Starbucks/ski hire downstairs were added bonuses plus free access to two local gyms.

Some apartments are old and tired but priced cheaper.

Lots to see and do in Aspen and a great town for families of all ages.

Location, location, location

Fantastic location - right at the base of the Aspen gondola, and next to the ticket office. 

Two ski hire places in the same building, as well as more within 50m. 

Bus/shuttle stop 200m away. 

Plenty of restaurants within close walking distance. 

Can wheel a grocery trolley right into your kitchen!! 

Very friendly staff at reception. 

Comfy rooms, with full kitchens.
