Blast at the Peaks

Written by Peter a Skier from Canberra, Australia
25/2/2011

Just returned from a blast in Sun Peaks.

Reading the snow report on the resort tv in the morning to see what black runs they groomed, then heading up for some wonderful steep groomers with powder on top. Snow was fantastic, like skiing on silk sheets, not often you can''t hear your skis under you as you blast down piste.

My recently reconstructed knee held up. (Whistler accident last year) and the whole family had a wonderful time.

I even still check the snow and grooming reports wistfully, wish I was back there!! Now all I need to figure out is where to go next year, Sun Peaks will be very hard to beat.

Peter from Australia.

Value for money family holiday

Written by Mary-Anne a Skier from Queensland, Australia
24/2/2011

Our family of 4 visited Sun Peaks for the 4th time and took along friends that had not travelled to Canada before. They were very impressed with the resort and facilities and enjoyed learning to ski and exploring the many runs on 3 mountains that the area has to offer. We noted this visit that the cost of everyday things & activities had risen since our last visit but taking this into account with other resorts we have skied at, Sun Peaks is still very comparable and still good value for money for our family. Our friends are keen to return to Sun Peaks and spread the word on the great skiing available every year. Abigail at Travelplan did an excellent job on our bookings and everything went smoothly for our trip. I have booked these holidays online myself some years but this was an easy process. I would recommend anyone new to the sport of skiing or novice skiers to visit Sun Peaks as the people that work and live in the area are fantastic and you may even run into someone that comes from the city where you live as there are many Australians working there in the winter season.

Written by Carolyn a Skier from Perth, Western Australia

Sun peaks picture perfect but very quiet.

Nightlife and restaurants were quiet with limited choice.  Hotel had it all in structure and location but poorly serviced.

Would hightly recommend the dog sledding!! fantastic people and great fun.

Friendly Sunpeaks

Written by Annabel a Skier from Melbourne
6/4/2010

If Sunpeaks had to be summarized in one word it would be "FRIENDLY" - from the  greeting of the shuttle driver  at the airport, to all the staff at Delta resort , the guys at the ski valet, the towies, the mountain guides, and the other skiers and boarders.

This was a resort where people chatted to others in bars, restaurants and on the slopes. Add to that the atmosphere of a compact village , great snow , a variety of slopes ,and  no lift lines and it makes a very enjoyable resort.

Sun Peaks finally scores a few runs

Written by Tim a Skier from Perth, Western Australia
5/4/2010

This was my 3rd visit to Sun Peaks. The 1st was 20 yrs ago. We had poor snow, poor visibility and left after half a day, but you can’t judge a ski resort from that, can you? So I returned last year. The snow everywhere in BC was bad and Sun Peaks was no exception, but the Snow Guides were great and Doug the guide encouraged me to give it another go this year. I’m glad I did. The snow was better and it snowed some while I was there. Soft, light, fluffy stuff. The trail markings in places leave a bit to be desired, but I spent a lot of time off the trails anyway when I wasn’t cruising with the guides. There’s some great tree skiing to be had. 3 Bears and Lonesome Fir glades are suitable for intermediates, but the tighter trees of The Bluff or Pink Flamingos are definitely black diamond stuff. Nancy Greene was terrific and her husband, Al, took us places the guides wouldn’t. If I go back again, it would be because of guides like Doug & Ziggy and hosts Nancy & Al.

Thinking about it, I may just do that.

Sun Peaks

Written by Robert a Skier from Wodonga, Australia
31/3/2010

Anne Martin reccommneded Sun Peaks to us and Anne was 100% correct. Sun Peaks is a beautiful "Hill" which caters for all levels of expertise. It was perfect for us because it enabled our learner to travel up with us and then we had our favourite Blues and Blacks whilst she cruised "5Mile" the best green run ever.

Nancy Greene''s Cahilty Lodge was brilliant. Our 2 bedroom apartment was superb and oh so eassy to skin ski out. A great outdoor hot tub to relax and socialise in after a hard day''s skiing. We had the added bonus of Al and Nancy''s company.

We highly reccomend Sun Peaks and whilst friends were fogged out over the road at Big White we just zoomed up the lift and into brilliant sunshine. It became obvious pretty quickly where the 2 mountains got their names from. sun Peaks wins every time.

You have to go there, See you there

Nancy Greene's Cahilty Lodge Sun Peaks British Columbia

Written by David a Skier from Brisbane, Australia
31/3/2010

My wife and I were in BC from late Jan 10 to mid-Feb 10. The resort was not overcrowded at the time. Cahilty Lodge has great accommodation for couples and families alike.  We stayed in a Grand Studio apartment (which contained a fully equiped kitchen)and was most spacious, clean and comfortable.

Excellent secure storage for skis/boards when not in use. Ski lifts had no lines or waiting Monday thru Friday, though weekends did get rather busy (to be expected).

Sun Peaks provides guides for first timers to get to know the mountains and trails (a worthwhile experience).  Plenty of fresh snow almost daily.

The Bluebird Market caters for most needs in food and drinks.  Excellent restaurants and a bottle shop within the resort with a large range of all types of alcohol completes all needs of the holiday makers.

We have already made reservations for our return trip in Jan 11. This was our first experience booking a holiday through Travelplan Ski and it could not have been any easier.   Thank you.

Twice and counting ..

Written by Kristine a Skier from Kareela, Australia
31/3/2010

This is the second time that Travelplan has handled the bookings for our regular vacation in Canada.  Everything went according to plan, transfers were always on time, all staff were most courteous, be they coach drivers,

Lodge staff or mountain staff, not to mention Travelplan's own consultants who were so helpful.

Housekeeping at Hearthstone was superb. Our room was always immaculate.

Why would I use any other company than Travelplan for our all-inclusive ski vacation.  Bring on next time!

Family Visit to Sun Peaks

Written by Chris a Skier from Sydney, Australia
30/3/2010

Our group of 5 adults visited Sun Peaks for Xmas 2009 from Sydney, booked through Travelplan.

We had excellent conditions which made this great Ski mountain all the better. Queues were minimal inspite of near peak season.

Our younger members enjoyed the night life, and we all got a buzz out of the festivities.

The best white xmas imagineable !

Coast Sundance Lodge, Sun Peaks

Written by Peter a Skier from Brisbane, Australia
9/3/2010

Spend 10 days at Coast Sundance Lodge, Sun Peaks in February 2010. They have their own ski lockers with lock provided.

Sun Peaks was fantastic with terrain for everyone and no queues on weekdays.

Weekends is a little busier with Kamloops locals coming up.

Resort staff were great and the Sun Guides are a great group of people to ski with.
