Offsetting emissions is a process whereby you pay a third party to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on your behalf in exchange for carbon credits.
The Carbon Reduction Institute is an accredited provider of carbon credits under the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme (GGAS). Their emissions accounting model follows the GHG protocol under the Kyoto standard.
When you offset the carbon emissions from your holiday with Travelplan, the Carbon Reduction Institute prevents the exact amount of greenhouse gases your trip produces from entering the atmosphere by investing in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
With Travelplan, you can choose to offset the emissions from your flight, car, public transport and accommodation. Just enter the details of your trip in the calculator and follow the instructions. All the money collected from your offsets is spent on the environment, e.g. for purchasing and installing energy saving light bulbs in Australian homes.
