IMPORTANT TRAVEL HINTS & TRAVEL ADVICE
Please ensure that you always travel with your passport into Canada otherwise you may be refused permission to board your flight, by the airline.
Always carry your boots as hand luggage. Airlines lose luggage weekly. If your luggage is lost CMH can arrange for replacement of most clothing needs but they can’t substitute for your own comfortable boots.
If the airline loses your luggage, get a lost luggage claim and notify the CMH hotel representative. This will enable CMH to locate your luggage faster, causing you the least inconvenience possible.
CMH lodges are very informal. Please refer to the CMH handbook for advice on what to bring. It is appreciated by CMH and your fellow travellers that you limit yourself to one carry on-bag with your boots included and one suitcase weighing no more than 40lbs. (18kg.) For your convenience, washing machines and dryers are provided in the lodges.
It is your responsibility to be on time for all departures. you will be responsible for all extra costs incurred if you miss the scheduled CMH transport
TRAVEL ADVICE There are faster and more expensive ways to get to CMH areas but under poor weather conditions they are not reliable. CMH have explored all avenues and, with the present arrangements, have the most reliable means of getting you to the Heli-Ski areas.
CUSTOMS AND IMMIGRATION
If you arrive from another country, including the U.S.A., you must clear Canadian Customs and you will be required to produce a passport. We have found in the past that skiers saying they are going "Heli-Skiing" have been detained for a thorough examination of their luggage. This has been due to several guests who were found to be in possession of illegal substances, which caused authorities to view all Heli-Skiers with equal suspicion. We recommend that you leave anything at home that might detain you and to simply say that you are going on a skiing holiday.
Guests returning directly to the USA, from Calgary, will clear US customs at the Calgary Airport. To avoid delays you must declare all your purchases and gifts including million foot suits.
CMH guests are readily identified by the company logo on clothing & baggage.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
UPON ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
We have arranged a special rate at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel for our skiers. The hotel is connected by a walkway to the airport and is where the buses depart and return. We would be pleased to make your reservations at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel. Sim-ply fill out the information request that is included in your final payment request package. Accommodation at the Airport is not included in your trip price.
Upon your arrival, a CMH representative will be in the lobby at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel to give you your room key, answer any questions and assist you in any way possible.
It is essential to arrive in Calgary the day before your trip starts as no scheduled flights arrive before the bus departure time on Saturday.
At most CMH ski areas a half day of skiing is included on the final Saturday morning of your trip, except at Kootenay where guests ski all day Saturday. (At Bobbie Burns, Valemount, Silvertip and McBride we ski a half day on the arrival Saturday, so you will depart after breakfast on the final Saturday) If you are planning to depart from Calgary on the last day of your trip, you should book your flight for no earlier than the arrival time back in Calgary (noted in the schedule Download 'Print Version' including Transfer Departure Times).
Please allow for standard check-in times for your particular destination and bear in mind that your arrival in Calgary from the Heli-Ski area could be delayed by difficult driving conditions. back to top
TRANSPORT TO THE HELICOPTER STAGING AREA
The CMH charter coaches depart the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel, stopping at the designated points in the following schedules. Please advise us if you would like to join the bus at one of these designated pick-ups along the route. A CMH representative, at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel, will assist you with the bus departure. It is your responsibility to be on time for all departures. You will be responsible for all extra costs incurred if you miss the scheduled CMH transport.
All CMH deluxe chartered coaches are non-smoking and feature comfortable reclining seats, restroom and panoramic windows for a great view.
Packed lunch, fruit and other refreshments are provided, on the bus, en route to the Heli-Ski areas.
ARRIVING BY TRANSPORT OTHER THAN BUS By private car: If you will be driving to the lodge or heli-pad, please include this information with your final payment. Contact the transportation coordinator if you require assistance in locating the heli-pad or lodge, we will send you a detailed map. Note: Your skiing may be delayed by up to 1/2 of a day, if you arrive after the initial safety briefing. By private plane: Please notify the CMH office prior to your trip if you are arriving by private plane, CMH will arrange for special transportation to pick you up. It is advisable that all pilots of private aircraft contact the transportation coordinator approximately 2 weeks prior to flight. Always check airfield conditions prior to your flight and advise us of any changes in schedule.
AT THE END OF THE ROAD
If you are travelling to our Monashees, Gothics, Revelstoke, Kootenay, McBride or Valemount areas, you will have reached your final destination. If you are travelling to our Adamants, Cariboos, Bugaboos, Bobbie Burns, Galena or Silvertip areas, you will transfer to our helicopter for the short flight into the lodge. The coach will take you to the helicopter departure area (staging area) where your luggage will be transferred by our staff into the helicopter. Our guides will assist you in boarding the helicopter. Guests departing from the lodge are ferried out on the return flights. Flights into the Lodges take approximately ten minutes.
