An extended family vacation to a winter mountain resort is a wonderful way to get reconnected with the kids. Chasing the young ones around the mountain on skis and snowboards for several days can be one of the family’s more life-enhancing experiences.
To make the logistics a little less daunting, the Kristiania Lech Concierge services are open to every hotel guest. “A good concierge has his or her finger on the pulse of the community,” explains Gertrud Schneider. “They will have access to one of the most crucial parts of any vacation: inside information.”
The Kristiania Concierge offer following these tips to plan the most memorable family vacation.
1. Start before your trip. Call the concierge in advance of your arrival to start planning. Many concierges will be happy to work with you to arrange any services you need, make reservations or help plan out activities and an agenda for your stay.
2. The hotel’s Ski Concierge will contact you a few weeks prior to your arrival to offer assistance with all your family’s skiing requirements, including securing your lift tickets for the entire family, purchasing lessons in advance, reserving spots in ski school, arranging rentals or storing skis and snowboards if you wish to ship them from home. When you arrive at the hotel, everything will be set – you’ll just walk out the door of the hotel, and hit the slopes.
3. Make an activity plan says Schneider. Don’t be afraid to ask a concierge to help plan your vacation in detail, day by day. When planning a family vacation, the concierge team can map out a plan that holds interest for each member of your family.
4. Create an experience. A good concierge can suggest not only a good restaurant, but where to sit and what time to arrive at a local eatery to catch the perfect sunset.
5. Special Family Services. The Kristiania Lech Ski Nanny program is available to all guests whose children are participating in the Lech Ski School. Each day, the Ski Nanny accompany and transport your child to ski school on time, help them with their gear, while allowing parents to still make first tracks on the mountain. At the end of the day, the Ski Nanny meets the children at ski school and returns them to the Kristiania Lech, where they may stay in the Lounge for complimentary munchies and hot chocolate until their parents retrieve them at 5 p.m. Private Babysitters are available upon request, day or evening, reservations strongly recommended.
6. Off-Peak Fun. Lech is a beautiful traditional Austrian town with a lot of character, it is full of true Austrian houses and you can really feel the culture and the values the people have in Lech. It is an amazing place to go on a holiday and you’ll never experience anything like it. Take a horse-drawn sleigh through the woods to Zug for a home-style dinner in a traditional Austrian hut. Race the whole family down a 1.2 km long, snow-covered track, windy path which runs from Oberlech to Lech. Another fun activity is visiting the ice-skating rink which sits at the bottom of the main ski lift. It is open to anyone, with so many fun things to do, like playing an exhilarating game of ice hockey, trying out curling or just having a relaxing skate around. These are just a few suggestions; there are a host of activities that the concierge can organize for your family.
7. Communicate. Don’t be shy. The more you ask the concierge and the more information you can share about your needs and desires, the more effective the service will be. Communicating your needs can create the smooth vacation you hope to have.
8. Solve a problem. Good concierges can solve virtually any problem, and handle seemingly impossible tasks with speed. Whether it’s a need for an interpreter, interest in finding a ski trail with just the right degree in difficulty, resolving a snag in travel plans, or help on finding anything, speak up.
These are just a few suggestions for guests to end up with a lower-stress, more relaxing trip – and memories for a lifetime.
