Great holiday thanks to travelplan

Back from holiday and had a great time.

Just to thank travelplan (Fiona Fraser) for all your organisation. Prior to the holiday booking, I received much help with determining the best accommodation and rates.

All went well on holiday with no problems. The apartment in Vail was one of the best I have stayed in, well positioned and service was excellent. And the ski pass through travelplan was almost half the price if bought at the lifts.

Vail - One BIG Mountain

Vail is huge and has a terrain for everyone. There are moguls, long groomed runs, bowls of powder and tree runs.

The food can be very expensive but there is a good Deli in the main street that has reasonable and delicious sandwiches.

I forgot the name but there was a steak resturant where I had one of the best steaks in my life. It was as soft as butter.

The Nordic skiing at Vail is OK. It's on a golf course. Not that scenic and most people will need to catch local bus to get there but it's not too bad.

This was our first time to Vail and we were dissapointed in how the runs connected. Lots of traversing required. Not much in the way of groomed runs and the blue runs were not as steep or long as Aspen. We had to contend with large crowds at the lift queues and lunch spots. The Sebastian was good, but our room had a ''smell'' about it & the air conditioning was impossible to regulate.

Equally world class are Vail's hotel and lodging options, amongst the best in North America with an offering for every lodging need.

Vail is an incredible mountain and the fun dosen't stop when the lifts close. Eagles Nest at the top of the Eagle Bah Gondola is the place for night time expression. Take the FREE gondola ride to Adventure Ridge and try some ski-biking, adventurous snowshoe tours, tubing or just relax at the family friendly Bistro Fourteen Restaurant.

For fine dining try the elegant Game Creek Restaurant, a European style chalet nestled in one of Vail's famed back bowls. Game Creeks Superb continental cuisine extensive wine list and first class service is a perfect end to an incredible day on Vail Mountain.
