Our Hakuba/Travelplan experience

Written by George a Skier from Walcha, NSW. Australia
8/4/2011

Abigail from Travelplan provided us with all the knowledge that we needed for s wonderful week at Hakuba. We found the terrain challenging and enjoyed every minute. Our Hotel was outstanding--there was never a moments hesitation when we sought advice--a phone call to reserve atable was made before we could blink.

The Japanese are kind, thoughtful and helpful in a way that makes us realise what''s missing elsewhere.

Thank you Travelplan for a well executed ski holiday.

Enjoyed the mountain, no lift lines, good snow and big hills. Quiet nights but suited our holiday.

Hakuba

Written by Colin a Skier from Melbourne, Australia

Hakuba isn't bad. Slight prefence to Niseko. Plenty of ski resorts around the area. We liked Tsugaike. At Hakuba, the restaurants are further from the hotel than Niseko so you often need to take a bus,as well as to get to a supermarket or ATM. Snow, while good, might not be quite as good as Niseko as it's further south. Weather better though. Great onsen at the hotel.

Fabulous Japan

Written by Joanna a Skier from Perth, Australia
15/10/2009

Having skied in the North island of Japan at Furano and Rusutsu, too extremely different types of Japanese ski resorts, we were looking for a balance between a Japanese cultural experience and great skiing, restaurants and easy communication and we found it Hakuba. There is a fabulous variety of runs with three different mountains on the one ski ticket. We found great ungroomed powder runs, great terrain parks for the teenagers and plenty of variety to suit skiers of all levels. The hot springs at the hotel were an evening ritual, great for soothing the tired limbs and exchanging stories and restaurant reviews. There were plenty of restaurant and bars within easy walking distance and the temperatures were significantly warmer than we experienced in north. The hotel staff (at the Mominoki Hotel) were extremely helpful in booking restraints and trips to the snow monkeys and the next door ski hire shop had everything we needed and great backcountry trips. We took teenagers do didn''t need the ski school but it was almost directly over the road from the hotel and there was a bus each morning from outside the ski shop. Hakuba has a great mix of Japanese and western restaurants and fabulous sushi bars. Visit before it gets taken over by Australians.

The hotel has a beautiful lobby with open fire place and lounge area to relax in and take in the mountains.

The interior of the hotel has been furnished superbly and provides guests with complete comfort and elegance. Mominoki offers its guests a very high standard of accommodation, with spacious, comfortable rooms that cater towards those who want just a little more than a room to relax in.
