Charming Chamonix!

Written by Robyn a Skier from Geelong
26/1/2012

Knowing nothing about European resorts, we asked Anne in Melbourne to recommend a good place to go in Europe and she suggested Chamonix.

We weren't disappointed! The scenery was spectacular and our accommodation at Balcons Du Savoy was excellent. It had amazing views of Mont Blanc from each room and we had kitchen facilities so could stay in if we wished after a hard days skiing.

There are so many runs to choose from in Chamonix and equally as many restaurants to eat at.

We loved our time there and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Chamonix - Hotel Mont Blanc

Written by Rachael a Snowboarder from Australia

Chamonix is a great resort for skiers and boarders alike. Great snow, great terrain and great nightlife. We went as a mixed group of genders, ages, abilities and both skiers/boarders and had a wicked time.

We stayed at Hotel Mont Blanc, a 4* hotel. We were fortunate to get a really good deal on this hotel, but I did notice that the full room rates were pretty high, although in its defence it does have a fabulous location, awesome views and an amazing wine list.

Each day we went to the slopes via the hotel shuttle bus wich was very convenient and easy. I would recommend this hotel if you can get a good deal on it.

Chamonix Scores for Scenery

Written by Pam a Skier from Sydney, Australia
5/2/2010

Our family of four travelled to Chamonix near the French Swiss border in January for a week''s skiing.

Les Balcons du Savoy was well located, close to the village and good access to ski areas.

The apartment was spacious and clean, though a little dated interior and some more comfy furnishings wouldn''t go astray.

The scenery and skiing were spectacular, Chamonix is a charming village with lots of choices for eating, good groceries and lots of other shopping.

The only downside is the accessibility to the many other ski areas which we found very difficult, and lack of information generally.

Would not recommend this area for beginners.
