Sun Peaks for 2

Written by Douglas a Skier from Auckland, New Zealand
02/04/2014

Stayed at Fireside Lodge in Sun Peaks 10 nights late Jan / early Feb 2014.

Great accommodation and easy access to lifts and return run to room.

Terrain is fantastic with lots of runs available - but not all are groomed every day. Best feature was the Host volunteers who provided a 2 hour free tour of the slopes at 9:15am or 1:00pm each day.

That time of year turned very cold - not sure if that is why there was hardly anyone on the mountain but from what I hear it is pretty normal - non-existent lines!!!

BEST VALUE FOR MONEY IN CANADA

Written by Erika a Skier from Australia

Let Travelplan ski organise your Sun Peaks ski trip. Michelle Gray from Travelplan ski has looked after my group for the past few years sometimes we've had 29 people in our group and everything has gone like clockwork Sun Peaks is an unknown little piece of paradise. We've always stayed at the Coast Sundance and Robyn on the front desk has been amazing always made our ski trips perfect. The Coast Sundance has perfect ski in ski out.

For families it is perfect not too crowded no waits on the chairs and all levels of skiers can ski together. The weather has always been reliable albeit I've skied in -28 that was a bit chilly.

All the staff in Sun Peaks wether in restaurants or manning the lifts are happy to please.

The village is so cute heaps of places to eat and a well stocked supermarket if you want to cook at home, trust me try the place you won't be disappointed.

Well kept secret

Written by Robyn a Skier from Adelaide, South Australia

It appears only people who ski have heard much about Sun Peaks and even then are hard pressed to say much about it.  The terrain is varied and suitable for all levels, very friendly staff and facilities easy to get to.  We walked everywhere and restaurants etc are easy to get to.

Fantastic resort with great skiing despite the locals saying it was a "poor snow year". No lift queues, good mix and number of restaurants.Locals mix well with tourists, making tourist feel very welcome. Grant range of accommodation options. Very easy good value holiday. From Brisbane the Air New Zealand option via Auckland is excellent.

Nothing beats Sun Peaks.

If you want a place with incredible snow (where it almost never rains), has runs to challenge the most experienced skier through to fun trees and trails for the kids and beautifully groomed runs that make any beginner feel like a pro then this place is for you.

Add to that hardly ever any queues, stunning scenery and the friendliest people ever, you have the perfect family ski village.

Amazing value, amazing fun but most of al amazing skiing!

Excellent Ski Holiday

Written by Karen a Skier from Queensland, Australia
09/02/2014

Sun Peaks is a great resort with excellent terrain, variety in restaurants and the Delta Resort is fantastic. Close to the skiing and shops, the resort is of a high standard with excellent restaurants and the outdoor spas and pool are breathtaking at sunset and even when snowing due to the great views.

Rooms are comfortable and fairly large for hotel rooms.

The residences are very luxurious but we found the hotel rooms excellent as well. Great with kids as it is so close to the action and easy to get around and they have great kids process in the restaurants.

For a great ski holiday in and upmarket resort you couldn't beat it.

The village is much bigger than Silverstar with more variety in restaurants, not as many double black runs but better green and blue runs.

Great for families

Written by Jeffrey a Skier from Sydney, Australia
30/01/2014

Another fantastic holiday in Sun Peaks! Great snow, lots of terrain, no lift cues, enough to do aprés but not too noisy with a family.

The ski school know their stuff (my 12 year old can now carve better than me!).

Very sympathetic and flexible when we needed to make some on-site changes.

Delta residence is well located and has all you need for self contained and launder clothed - allowing you to pack light.

Can't wait till next year!

Sun Peaks an Independent Overview

Written by Paul a Skier from Sun Peaks an Independent Overview
30/01/2014

Sun Peaks has good, varied skiing terrain, for most abilities. The runs range from relaxing and easy, wide and flat, to quite challenging with plenty of trees and natural obstacles. The groomed runs are very smooth and the daily published grooming information is accurate.

Crystal Forest, offers good accommodation, but it is quite far from the village and is nowhere near to being ski in/ski out, but there is a daytime free half hourly shuttle bus.

The village offers a range of cafes and restaurants. The restaurants are generally very good, but the cafes are all too small, with very limited seating arrangements.

Service throughout the resort, especially in the ticketing office and equipment rental shop is very poor.

In summary although we had very good skiing conditions, at Sun Peaks, it does not compare favourably with other Canadian ski resorts. Give me Big White any day.
