10 days of rain in Whistler

I travelled to Whistler with my 2 children for a 10 day skiing holiday from 6-16 January 2010 and hit an unusually warm January - accompanied by 9 days of uninterrupted rain, making for very unfortunate ski conditions - but not allowing much other outdoor activities either due the slushy conditions. This is just the luck of the draw - but its at times like this that you really appreciate a hotel with a good social life - which sadly does not exist at all at The Westin. The Westin has all the charm of a large airport. We spended all our time over at the Fairmont where there was a much more convivial bar with live music, as well as cheap meals between 4-6 pm ($10 a pop). It would have been great if Travelplan Ski through whom we booked, monitored the weather conditions because we were so bored and miserable, we would have happily jumped at an offer to fly us out of there to a resort with good snow and skiing conditions for an extra cost.
