I have travelled to Big White on 3 occasions with my wife and my 2 daughters staying for 3 weeks each time. We travel with at least 6 other families and we all stay in Eagles Condos.
Every morning there is a group of adults, usually the men, ready to ski at 8.30. The women usually venture out a little later and the kids, around 15 of them, organise themselves. The men head up to the top of the Alpine T Bar for a warm up run, then up the T Bar again for the 5 km run down to Gem Lake. This has got to be one of the prettiest runs especially when there''s a layer of fresh powder. We head down Whitefoot with its short steep section and then on to Blue Sapphire where the run winds and undulates like a river borderd by snow covered fir trees. This is just a sensational run to start the day and after several runs we head back to the Happy Valley Day Lodge for lunch where we usually catch up with our wives and kids.
The afernoon is usually spent on the Ridge Rocket, The Bullet and Black Forest depending on the snow. At the end of the day its a beer at the White Crystal Inn and then back to Eagles and its heated outdoor pool.
Big White has some terrific restaurants and bars including Snowshoe Sams where we have spent many an evening and experienced their famous "Shotgun Coffees".
Big White has just been the most sensational skiing holidays that my family has had.
